Spring is getting closer which means it’s almost time for spring field trip season! We wanted to make you aware of a few things before the season begins.
Spring field trips will be offered this year Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays between May 7th and June 6th. Field trips will begin at either 9am or 1pm and each group will be given a 2 hour time slot with a staff member. We expect field trips to begin promptly at their start time in order to best utilize the time our staff members can offer.
Field trips are $5 per student, chaperones are free.
Field trip booking takes place on our website. Go to pondhill.com, click on ‘events,’ then click on ‘field trips.’ You will find this information repeated along with an online form to fill out. Field trip dates and times are assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Once we receive your request, we will confirm your date with you. We will reconfirm one business day before the field trip occurs to make sure you are still joining us.
Here is what you can expect on a spring field trip:
Students will be welcomed to the farm and seated in our picnic area behind the cafe. A staff member will provide your group with an educational discussion about farming. We will do our best to accommodate based on the age and attention span of your group. Groups will also have the opportunity to take a walk through our fields, pull a vegetable out of the ground, and eat it! Every field trip takes a hayride around the farm and makes a pit stop to feed the fish at our trout pond. From here the farm is yours to enjoy! Feed the animals, shoot the squash rocket, and play on the playground. The picnic area can be used to enjoy a snack if your class is hoping to eat while you are here, covered space is available inside our livestock barn.
A few notes:
We request 1 chaperone per every 5 students. While it is ok to have more than that, our hayride can only fit about 25-30 people at a time. We will try to accommodate as best we can but keep that in mind as parents and extra chaperones start joining the group. Thank you.
We typically assign one staff member per every 20 students.
Since a lot of our activities occur outside, we understand that weather plays a factor. If you wish to reschedule due to rotten weather, please get in touch with us ASAP so we can give you a rain date.
